        COSFC Aug. News Letter

Hello COSFC members hope every body’s doing well and catching all the fish you need.  There was a bad storm off cape fear during the 4th weekend  kinda caught some people off guard and there was a loss that weekend a fellow fisherman had a heart attack possibly due to this storm The Charlotte Offshore Sport Fishing Club would like to extend all our symphony to his family and friends he was fishing.  Well as president of the club id like to welcome all knew club members and their families. Last meeting in July we kinda had a hand raising to ask about our donations and to whom so we decided to donate our monies to fishing programs for kids local and still give to the LBARA. And we would at this time not continue to search for a Christmas family maybe as we get closer we can look at things sooner we get closer to Christmas.

Thanks to Captain Rob Ferris for his awesome seminar on kingfisher jigging and the rods he uses for this he was good at our club meeting July 9th and ill say now he followed up at the workshop on Monday night July 14th we had 16 members there and 1 visitor.

Our speaker in august will be Captain Joe Seegers from Crokers Marine in Wilmington.  Captain will take about weather and where the fish are biting and he has more planned to talk about so come to the meeting and bring a friend our some family.

Looks like the fishing trip we have been talking about is going to happen and id like to thank our Vice President rocky page for putting this all together I think this will be a really fun trip and IM sure we will catch some great fish, see rocky for all the details.

March 12, 2007 Minutes

Club President Terry McPherson opened the meeting.  Terry welcomed all Club members and recognized guests.  He then read the names of the Club members who had paid their yearly family dues of $60.00 per year and reminded everyone that if they had forgotten to please see Ken.  Terry also reminded everyone to fill out a new form with updated information so that they will receive the newsletter.

The newsletter has been sent twice for the year 2008.  The first time it was sponsored by T. W. McPherson Plumbing and the second time by Kleen Solutions.  Jane and Jimmy Price are sponsoring the newsletter for April.  If you would like to be a sponsor, please contact Terry or Lucy Drake.  The initial cost is approximately $50.00.  If you are a Club member and did not receive your newsletter, please notify Terry or Lucy.

The workshop will be held Monday, March17th at 7:00 at Captain’s Galley.  Terry encourages all Club members to attend and learn how to tie some knots!  He also encourages visitors to attend.  A lot of useful information is available to help the avid fisherman by experienced hands-on Club members.

The speaker for April will be Lloyd Eastlack with Bug Em Bait Company from Wilmington, N. C.  Plan to attend and be ready to purchase some new fishing supplies for the spring fishing season.

Tuesday night, March 18th, will be the Bass Pro Shop fishing meeting that is help at Concord Mills.

Terry Moore, Club member, announced he had purchased a new 32 foot Century center console boat.  He was teased about the value of gas it would take.  Congrats Terry!  Have fun fishing……

Military Appreciation Day will be held on June 7th this year at Morehead City.  100 private boats are needed to take the military fishing for the day to show our appreciation.  There are two parks on the waterway that will be the location for the event.  More information will be available as we get closer to the date as volunteers are needed for many areas, besides bringing a boat.

Captain Chad Ferris of Tall Tails Charters out of Charleston, S. C. was the guest speaker of the evening.  Chad does inshore sight fishing for redfish, trout, flounder, tarpon, jack crevalle and more.  He shared a wonderful slide show presentation to the Club and explained different lures he uses with red drum and trout fishing.  Chad is on the water 300 days a year!  Chad has a website:  www.fishcharleston.com.  His telephone number is 843 209-5153.  He can take 1 to 3 anglers a trip and does half, three-quarter and full day trips.  Thank you Chad for a wonderful presentation to the Club!

Respectfully submitted,

Lucy Drake

Club Secretary

2008 IT IS TIME TO RENEW RECREATIONAL FISHING LICENSES

MOREHEAD CITY – Before casting a hook and line or jabbing a gig, fishermen should take a moment to pull their
Coastal Recreational Fishing Licenses from their wallets or tackle boxes to check the expiration dates.

The annual recreational licenses expire one year from the date of purchase, so those who bought one in January
2007 may need to renew it before going fishing.

“Our commercial licenses and permits all expire on June 30 of each year, and we want to make sure people don’t get
these dates confused,” said Marine Patrol Col. Rex Lanier.

This is particularly important since a yearlong grace period, in which Marine Patrol handed out warning tickets to first offenders,
is over, Lanier said.

In 2007, Marine Patrol handed out more than 2,800 warning tickets but only 25 actual citations for fishing without a
Coastal Recreational Fishing License.

Now, however, those caught fishing without a license will get a ticket that carries a fine and court costs of $155.

The state sold 470,400 Coastal Recreational Fishing Licenses in 2007, and 25,591 of those were purchased in the first
four weeks of the year. Most of the licenses sold were annual resident licenses.

The license requirement pertains to anyone age 16 or older fishing in coastal waters of North Carolina, except those
who held a Lifetime Sportsman or Lifetime Comprehensive Fishing license issued by
the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission prior to Jan. 1, 2006.

An annual license costs $15 for residents and $30 for non-residents. Ten-day licenses and a variety of lifetime licenses are
available, as well. For more information on the types of licenses available, view the DMF Web site at www.ncdmf.net.

Licenses may be purchased or renewed at Wildlife Resources Commission licensing agents, which include most bait and
tackle shops and all DMF license offices. They may also be purchased online at www.ncwildlife.org, or
by calling 1-888-2HUNTFISH (1-888-248-6834).
