The Charlotte Offshore Sportfishing Club is a nonprofit family
organization
with a current membership of 100 plus families. The
membership has the
common interest of saltwater fishing inshore,
onshore, & offshore in the
coastal waters of North & South Carolina.
Monthly meetings are held that
provide the attending membership the
opportunity to hear featured speakers
on topics of special interest
for
saltwater fishermen. Meetings also provide an
opportunity for fellowship
and camaraderie with the many friends that enjoy
speaking about saltwater fishing. Members are eager
to share their
recent experiences, plus share the
places and techniques.
A
Hands on Workshop
meeting
is also held monthly.
(the Monday following the regular Wed. monthly meeting)
The Workshop meeting is held at the exact
same place and time
as the regular monthly meeting. Experienced club members
put on a
“Back to Basics”. This is a “hands on”
open forum
instructing attendees where,
when, and
how to fish the Carolinas salt water.
This Website will have each months News Letter
updated a week before the
regular meeting, plus the News Letter can be mailed to members upon request.
A few additional
topics of major interest to the COSFC membership are;
marine conservation, assisting in the
building of artificial reefs (the club donates
a
substantial amount of $$ to the Long Bay Artificial Reef Association
each year),
promoting safety on the water, plus providing input to our legislators on certain
critical fishing
conservation issues.
Monthly and Award Meetings
The members meet the second (2nd) Wed. of each month at The Captains
Galley
11032 East Independence Boulevard Matthews NC. The fellowship begins
@
6:30 pm and the meeting proper begins at 7:00 pm. Visitors are
always
welcome to attend the meetings. A raffle is conducted (items of use
to saltwater
fishermen) with the proceeds going to the club fund,
which makes its way as a
donation to the Reef Fund.
A
special Awards Presentation is held at the Dec. meeting to award
plaques to the
winners of the Yearly Inner Club Tournament
for the largest fish
caught in specific
categories. (I.E. flounder, king
mackerel, grouper, black sea bass, tuna, dolphin,
wahoo, cobia, billfish, Spanish mackerel etc.)
